November 2018 – Photography Competition Results!
07 Dec 2018
November has been a whirlwind of weather and colour and seasons – what started off with some sunshine, ended with stormy skies and darker shades of brown surrounding the ground.
Our judge had an incredibly difficult decision to make, with 40 beautiful photographs to choose from from the subject Autumn Colours.
Coming in at first place was… BRILLIANT BOILTON WOOD (above) taken by TREVOR SOUTHWARD! Our judge explained why she chose this photo as the winner.
“I’ve never seen so many Autumn Colours in one photograph. The greens, the oranges, the blue of the water, the brown of the reeds, it’s just everything I expected to find in an Autumn Colour photograph.”
Second place was awarded to GOLDEN REFLECTIONS by KEN HAYES!
“I love a good reflection and this really is a good reflection. The orange contrasted with the blue sky is stunning, and you can see where the sun rays are hitting the trees – it’s just really beautiful.”
Rounding out the top three this month was GOLDEN TRAIL by DAVE BENNION. Our judge really enjoyed this shot, saying:
“This is an end of Autumn shot, with the dark oranges and moody skies – the movement of the eye towards the centre of the image sends you on a journey through the tree tunnel.”
Feel free to let us know what you think about the judge’s selections via either our Facebook or Twitter pages. DECEMBER’s competition is currently open and has the theme of SEASONAL WILDLIFE; it is arguably the best time of year for colours so we’re expecting an abundance of warm toned photographs.
The deadline for entries is midnight on 05/01/2019 and the only condition is that your photograph was taken on Brockholes nature reserve. To enter, just email firstname.lastname@example.org (a maximum of three photos per person is permitted). More information, including the full set of rules and Terms & Conditions, can be viewed here.
