Photography Competition Results - September 2023

Deborah Shackleton

The results are in for September's photography competition!

As we transition from summer to Autumn, we watch as our landscapes change in preparation for the colder months. The long summer days become shorter, and we see the leaves on our trees change their colour to those autumnal hues of orange and brown, before they begin to fall to the ground.

Our theme for September’s photography competition was ‘local landscapes’ and we receive some fantastic entries from across Lancashire, Manchester and North Merseyside. From rolling hills to sandy beaches and even a murmuration in the morning sky, the quality of the entries we received this month, was incredible.

Unfortunately, there can only be one winner. The winner of September's photography competition is … Deborah Shackleton!

Murmuration's

Deborah Shackleton

Our judges where amazed with how she photographed this stunning murmuration in the early morning sky. The levels in the image are truly stunning! From the orange glow of the sky, and the remarkable murmuration, to the illuminated landscape, still and undisturbed in the early hours.  A stunning piece of photography!

White Coppice

Paul Gray

Second place this month goes to Paul Grey with his incredible landscape image titled ‘White Coppice’. We loved how he captured the natural world in this wonderful image. The autumnal colours that consume this image are lovely, and we found the way he captured the flow of the water with such clarity very impressive.

Misty Brockholes

Andrew Spencer

Finally, in third place we have Andrew Spencer with his image, Misty Brockholes. This beautiful image captures this stunning landscape perfectly. From the way the mist slowly consumes the trees in the distances to the still empty lake, gives the viewer a sense of calmness and tranquillity.

A huge thank you to everyone who sent in their wonderful images! The winner will be contacted via email with details of how to redeem their £100 optics voucher prize.
