COVID-19 update - national lockdown

Brockholes Opening Times:

Nature reserve and car park open seven days a week, 6am - 7pm (£5 charge all day)

Toilets only  available Wednesday to Sunday, 10am - 4pm
Takeaway offer: Closed until further notice

Nature is an essential service, for both the wellbeing of people and for wildlife. It is critical that we continue to deliver conservation work and we also feel it is crucial to keep our reserves as accessible as possible for the local communities in which they sit. Once again, we need nature now more than ever.

This won’t be an easy task for us as a charity, as the lockdown also means we will have to put many of our income streams on pause, including our vital fundraising activities. To all of our members who have stood by our side throughout this, thank you. Please continue to stand by us, and your local wildlife.

Our reserves will remain open, but we do ask that you follow the rules when visiting. This means only in your household or support bubble. You must stick to your local reserves (with some travel permitted to access your local green space). Please make sure you keep 2m apart at all times and please check our opening times as they may change.

Under the Government restrictions you can exercise in a public outdoor place:

- by yourself
- with the people you live with
- with your support bubble (if you are legally permitted to form one)
- in a childcare bubble where providing childcare
- or, when on your own, with 1 person from another household

Nature is still open, and it is still here for you.

We are sorry to say that as of Friday 15th January, our takeaway offer will close until further notice. We have tried really hard to keep a takeaway offer going for those of you who use these reserves as your essential daily exercise break, but sadly we are losing money in doing so. The latest lockdown has also seen most of our charitable fundraising activities stop, and as a charity we cannot afford to continue running the takeaway at a loss.

In order to comply with the current guidelines and keep everyone safe, some of our other facilities have also closed:

All visitor centre shops and interpretation centres will remain closed (visitor centres will be open for toilet access only).
All reserve hides will be closed.
Viewing screens will remain open. Please ensure you keep your distance from both the viewing screens and other households.
