V... is for Volunteers

Without our wonderful volunteers Brockholes Nature Reserve wouldn’t be the same. From helping visitors in the welcome centre, to aiding us in our practical conservation roles, our volunteers help us right across the board. Despite the current circumstances, we can’t wait to welcome back our invaluable team members once the time is right.

With a multitude of opportunities regularly available there really is something for everyone, moreover volunteering is rewarding both physically and mentally. Alongside the obvious benefit which the trust gains form the invaluable support of volunteers, for which we are eternally grateful. Volunteers can also be confident in the knowledge that they are taking part in a nationwide movement to protect wildlife and wild places for the future. All of which could not be achieved without their vital work.

Volunteers

Brockholes in normal times is able to offer a wide variety of roles to people from all backgrounds, who wish to volunteer in some capacity. As an organisation we want to make sure that your skills are used in the most effective way, so that you can gain the most out of your time volunteering with us. Regardless of your motivations, whether you wish to meet new people, share your expertise or help to create a profitable future for wildlife – we will make sure that the correct opportunity is found for you.

Some examples of the myriad of opportunities which we hope will shortly become available at Brockholes once again, include; volunteer ranger roles, for the more adventurous character who wishes to be our eyes and ears out on the reserve. Alternatively why not get involved with our Brockholes Mudpack group, who carry out a variety of practical conservation tasks in our woodland areas, in order to maintain their suitability for educational activities. Concurrently, we also regularly have availability within our visitor engagement team, who make sure everyone receives a warm welcome in our floating visitor centre, a more relaxed and less physically active role which is suitable for everyone. All of these opportunities, come with comprehensive training provided, so that anyone can happily feel comfortable taking part, regardless of their experience.

Despite our inability to offer any volunteering opportunities at this exact moment, this period has purposefully reinforced the invaluable work that our volunteers do to make Brockholes the special place that it is. Once the time is right, and we are able to safely do so we cannot wait to welcome back our wonderful team of volunteers, and any new individuals who may wish to get involved.
