Alison Holmes

The theme of this month’s photography competition was ‘Fabulous Fungi, and the images we received of these amazing organisms was incredible!

Fungi truly are fantastic, making up an entire kingdom of their own, and with more than 15,000 species growing in the UK, there are plenty to spot.

From photographs of the classic fly agaric to the deep purple of the amethyst deceiver, this month’s entries included some wonderful examples of the diversity that can be found within the fungi kingdom.

Choosing a winner was extremely difficult, however after much deliberation Alison Holmes was selected as the winner of October’s competition.
