Flooding updates from Brockholes

Stephen Melling

The latest updates on the flooding situation at Brockholes Nature Reserve following Storm Ciara on Sunday 9th February 2020.

Saturday 22nd February

Unfortunately, due to flooding over night, we have had to close Brockholes again today.

The water levels are dropping from the river, but they are still at an unsafe level for visitors.

This means we have had to cancel today's Silent Disco. All ticket holders will receive an email from the event organisers (Our Kids Social) for more information.

We apologise for any inconvenience and know you will join us in hoping for some dry weather soon!

Monday 17th February

We are now OPEN again! The water levels have dropped enough for the Visitor Village to be safe to open to the public. Please still wear appropriate footwear as the walking paths are still a bit muddy!

All scheduled events for Half Term will go ahead.

Boilton Wood is still closed due to high winds, so please be cautious when walking around this area and take note of the signage on-site.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding during this time. We are so glad to be open once again and be able to welcome visitors for a fun-filled, adventure packed, WILD half term.

Sunday 16th February

Unfortunately, due to the aftermath of Storm Dennis, we have had to take the decision to close Brockholes today, Sunday 17th February.

Once again, we apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. We are hoping to be back open as usual for Half Term week, weather allowing. Please keep an eye on this web page or our social media channels for the most up-to-date information.

Friday 14th February

💧 BROCKHOLES FLOODING UPDATE - CLOSED SATURDAY 15th FEBRUARY💧

Unfortunately, the Visitor Village is still not accessible and so will not be open tomorrow (Saturday 15th February).

☔ The following events are therefore cancelled: ☔

Withy Lantern Making
Xplorer Challenge

There is currently bad weather, including heavy rain, forecast Saturday and into Sunday along with a medium flood risk.

The Reptile Meet and Greet scheduled for Sunday (16th February) has been cancelled due to the cold and wet weather compromising the health of the reptiles.

We are doing our best to be able to open the site for next week, but with the weather well and truly against us, it is a case of taking each day as it comes.

Please keep an eye on our social media channels and website for the most up-to-date information.

Thank you for your patience during this time. We really do appreciate it.

Thursday 13th February

The Visitor Village will remain closed on Friday 14th February, The water levels on the lake are falling, but the paths leading to the Village are still not accessible and are unsafe for public access.

At the moment, we are hoping to go ahead with all planned Half Term events. However, we are monitoring the situation closely in preparation for Storm Dennis this weekend, so please keep an eye on our social media channels and the website for the most up-to-date information.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this soggy period - we are working hard to make sure we are back up and running as normal as soon as possible.

Tuesday 11th February

The Visitor Village will remain closed on Wednesday and Thursday this week. This is due to very high water levels on Meadow Lake which we are monitoring. The levels are dropping, and we will reassess on Thursday.

☔ MIDWEEK MEANDER AND PRAM WALK ARE CANCELLED THIS WEEK ☔

There is limited access on the nature reserve. Boilton Wood remains closed due to high winds, and a number of paths are flooded. There will be no facilities including toilets until the Visitor Village is back open.

We ask visitors to take caution and please read the notices on site.

Thank you for your kind words and patience - our wonderful teams are working hard to ensure all the fun can continue at Brockholes as soon as possible.
