September 2018 – Photography Competition Results!

11 Oct 2018

The results for the Brockholes September photography competition are in! We have seen a massive number of entries this month under the theme of RESERVE VIEWS and the images we received were some of the best we have ever seen.

Our judge had an incredibly difficult decision to make, with 52 stunning photographs to choose from.

After much deliberation. coming in at first place was… EARLY MORNING SUN (above) taken by CHRIS HACKETT! Our judge explained why she chose this photo as the winner.

“It’s just beautiful. The sun beams, the reflection, the mist on the water, it really does sum up everything Brockholes is about.”

Second place was awarded to VISITOR CENTRE REFLECTION by ANDREW STANNARD, which is a wonderful image in the golden hour.

“I just love this image. Our unique visitor centre in all its glory, a stunning reflection at the most beautiful time of the day and colours which blow you away.”

Rounding out the top three this month was HOPING FOR A RAINBOW by PAUL HUNT. Our judge really enjoyed this shot, saying:

“I love the addition of a person in this image – it really highlights how calm and tranquil our reserve really is.”

Feel free to let us know what you think about the judge’s selections via either our Facebook or Twitter pages. OCTOBER’s competition is currently open and has the theme of WOODLAND FUNGI; we know there is an abundance of it around every corner at Brockholes, so go and explore in the Autumn sunshine.

The deadline for entries is midnight on 05/10/2018 and the only condition is that your photograph was taken on Brockholes nature reserve. To enter, just email tjolly@lancswt.org.uk (a maximum of three photos per person is permitted).  More information, including the full set of rules and Terms & Conditions, can be viewed here.
