Do I need to book?

Yes, for many of our events but not all! Our Events Calendar will tell you whether advanced booking is required or not. Payment is taken on booking.

Please note that many of our events sell out quickly, so we urge you to book well in advance. Many of our events have special “early bird” tickets available at a reduced rate for those who book well in advance.

If you join our mailing list we will let you know when early bird event tickets go on sale.

Do parents or adults need to book an event ticket?

In most cases, yes, ALL adults coming to an event need to book a ticket for themselves as well as for any children in the party. Full details can be found on the Event’s Calendar listing for the event you wish to attend. Please read this event information through carefully to avoid any embarrassment on arrival. Any adults without tickets will be required to purchase them on the door, subject to availability, at “on the day” prices.  If we do not have any on the day ticket availability, we reserve the right to refuse entry to the event for your party.

For some limited events we are able to offer free tickets for adults coming to events with children. In this case you will be prompted to book a free adult ticket. Please make sure you do book the free ticket, as this essential for us to manage numbers for events. Full details can be found on the Event’s Calendar listing for the event you wish to attend.

Please note that we only provide refunds if we take the decision to cancel an event.

How do I book for an event?

  • Online via our website, via Skiddle or at our Facebook page
  • In person at Brockholes. Please note there will be an additional charge per ticket.

Please note that our cheapest tickets are only available online.

Do you send out tickets through the post?

No, in order to keep our event costs as low as possible, we do not send out paper tickets through the post.

If you book your tickets online, you will receive email confirmation and an e-ticket from Skiddle, our online booking agent.

Do ensure that you enter your email address into the online booking system correctly, if you don’t, you won’t receive an email confirmation or e-ticket! There is also the option to receive a text confirmation if you book online.

If you book in person in The Nest Gift Shop, we will give you a till receipt for your payment, just bring this along to the event with you.

I have booked online, but haven’t received any confirmation?

Check your spam/junk folder. The email will come from Skiddle, our online booking agent and not from us at Brockholes.

If you can’t find anything, contact Skiddle via their contact page.

What time does the event start?

The start time is detailed on our events calendar. Our Event Leader will be at the meeting point 5 -10 minutes before the event is due to start.

Please make sure that you give yourself enough time to get to Brockholes and walk to the meeting point ready for the advertised start time.

The Welcome Centre, Activity Room and Conference Centre are all located on our floating Visitor Village.

If you have booked advanced pond dipping tickets, you can just head straight to the pond dipping platform!

What happens if the weather is bad?

The majority of events at Brockholes go ahead whatever the weather! We are a nature reserve and advise you to come dressed for the weather conditions wearing sturdy footwear for outdoor events or if you intend to explore the reserve.

We always plan for bad weather and may alter an event slightly to take weather conditions into account, for example altering our route or spending more time inside on very wet days.

We may take the decision to cancel an event due to severe weather conditions or if severe conditions are forecast. If WE take the decision to cancel the event, you will be issued with a full refund.

How will I find out if an event has been cancelled?

If you have booked your tickets online, you will receive an automatic cancellation email from Skiddle advising you that the event has been cancelled. It will provide you with a reason for the cancellation plus details on how your refund will be processed.

Please note that in times of severe weather our staff may not be in the office or able to answer the phone.

If you booked tickets in The Nest we will do our best to contact you by email using the details that you provided us with. This is not always possible in severe weather, so please do check our website or social media accounts. We will contact ASAP to arrange a refund.

Do you provide refunds?

Yes, if WE take the decision to cancel an event.

If you booked online, Skiddle will process your refund. If you book over the phone or in person in The Nest, we will contact you to process your refund.

We do not provide refunds if you find yourself unable to attend an event due to unforeseen circumstances. There is the option to purchase ticket refund protection if you book online.

I have booked for an event but I am running late. What can I do?

The event will start at the advertised start time. If you arrive late you will be able to join the session and participate in the remainder of the event or activity. Please note that many of our activities and events take place across the reserve, so the group may have moved on and left the advertised meeting point by the time you arrive. In this situation please report to the Welcome Centre where we will be able to locate the group and/or leader for you and direct you to a suitable point to meet with the rest of the group.

We do not issue refunds if you miss some or all of an event due to a late arrival.

How do I book a stall at Crafty Vintage?

Brockholes acts as a venue for Crafty Vintage Fayres. All stall holder/trader bookings are managed by Crafty Vintage.

I would love to hold an event at Brockholes. How do I go about this?

If you are thinking about Brockholes as a venue for an event that would be open to the public or would like to work with us Brockholes, email Sarah our Events Manager at sarah.leach@brockholes.org with details, even if it is only at the “ideas” stage!

Are you looking for event suppliers/contractors?

Yes! We are always on the lookout for new and exciting event contractors and suppliers! We would love to hear from you! Just drop us a line at events@brockholes.org with full details of what you do.

  • Face painters, musicians and entertainers
  • Buskers
  • Woodland crafts people (including wood turners, carvers and talented people who make items from wood!)

People with a “bee” connection – people who supply honey or items made from honey or bees wax, artists, crafts etc.
