June 2023 Photography Competition Results

Stephen Catterall

We have received some incredible entries this month all under June’s theme of Butterflies and Moths!

Summer is officially here, and it has been a joy to watch wildlife thrive across our nature reserves. From birds soaring the skies to damselflies, butterflies and moths delicately flying throughout the tall grasses and wildflowers, our natural spaces are covered in incredible wildlife.

The theme for our June photography competition was butterflies and moths and the entries we received where just incredible! This month we have seen some stunning images of Red Admirals, Small Coppers, Hummingbird Moths and so many more incredible butterfly and moth species.

Unfortunately, our judges can only pick one winner, a task that was extremely difficult this month as we received so many amazing entries.

We are delighted to announce that the winner for June’s photography competition is… Ken Hayes!

Small Copper

Ken Hayes

It’s clear to see why this fantastic image took home first place! The detail captured in this image is just incredible. Our judges loved how Ken captured the incredible orange and brown details of this small copper butterfly, it is simply beautiful!

Hummingbird hawk moth

Stephen Catterall

Second place goes to Stephen Catterall and his beautiful photograph of a hummingbird hawk moth. The way that he captured this incredible moth hovering above the flower feeding on its sweet nectar, really impressed our judges.

Common Blue titled 'got my eyelashes done'

Amanda Jackson

Finally, third place goes to Amanda Jackson with this fabulous image titled ‘got my eyelashes done’. The way that she captured the face of this incredible little common blue butterfly, giving the viewer a different and not often seen perspective of this butterfly, amazed our judges.

A huge thank you to everyone who sent in their wonderful images! The winner will be contacted via email with details of how to redeem their £100 optics voucher prize.
